How to Make a Perfume Last Longer?

The most reliable way to prolong the effect of your favorite perfume is to drop its travel version in your cosmetic bag. When this is not possible (anyway, forgetfulness is our second nature), simple rules will help keep its fragrance for the rest of the day.

Where to store the perfume

First of all, take care of the preservation of the fragrance itself. Do not store perfumes in the bathroom, where the humidity is high and temperature changes are frequent, as well as in a place where direct sunlight falls.

A cool, dark place should be ideal. Another reasonable option is a shelf in a nightstand or a drawer of a dressing table away from the battery. If the storage conditions are met, your scent will be stored in the bottle for a long time, which means that its “working” stability will also be preserved.

When to use perfume

The persistence of a fragrance is determined by the degree of the perfume extracts concentration in it (in decreasing order – perfume, eau de parfum, eau de toilette, cologne) and equals 4-6 hours on average. A common mistake of using it at the very last moment shortens this period too.

This should be done at least 30 minutes before leaving the house, and ideally right after a shower. The perfume applied to clean skin is clearer and more pronounced, and the moisture remaining on it as if “preserves” the smell and makes it possible to smell fragrant until the evening.

The base will also help prolong the performance of the fragrance. A moisturizing lotion or … plain petroleum jelly (it will reliably “fix” the smell and will not interfere with it) will do well with this function ─ leave its invisible mark on the “right” points, and then apply the perfume.

Where to apply the perfume

Apply the scent to your skin, not your clothes (of course, it lasts longer there, but it also smells different). It will effectively open up in certain areas known as pulse points ─ in areas where blood vessels are located as close to the skin as possible (back of the head, wrists, elbows, the hollow between breasts, hollows under the knees). The heat radiated from the impulse zones will help the perfume to reveal itself.

Do not touch it

Get rid of the habit of rubbing the places where you have applied the perfume (most often this happens with your wrists). From sharp touches, the top notes of the fragrance “break”, and the defenseless bottom notes evaporate within half an hour.

If you really want to, gently wipe the places where you applied perfume or eau de toilette, but it’s better not to do anything at all.

A complex approach

The perfume “works” brighter and more efficiently when used in a complex. Therefore, if you use scented shower gel/milk/cream/body powder and perfumes from the same line of the same brand, you can provide yourself with a veil of your favorite fragrance for the whole day.

Mind your head

Spraying the perfume composition onto clean hair allows you to preserve the aroma for a long time. But do not forget that, as a rule, it has an alcohol base, which means that it will inevitably dry your hair and scalp.

To avoid this, apply the perfume to the comb with which you will style. A good alternative is to use a hair mist. This will allow you to supplement or enhance your favorite fragrance if you want to, increasing the health and beauty of your hair: hair perfumes are usually enriched with vitamins, sunscreen filters, shimmery particles, and other useful ingredients.

If there is no mist at hand, but you really want to make the curls smell, spray the perfume into the air at a distance of at least 20-30 cm and go through the fragrant cloud.
