Laser Hair Removal Myths and Truth

Are there any girls left, who have never turned to laser hair removal? We do not mean those who suffer from alopecia. If you are still shaving, you probably believe in one or more depilation myths. But modern laser devices work with dark skin and causa less pain (yes, we are talking about the very intimate places). In general, it’s not so scary as you thought. Let’s take a look at the most popular myths about laser hair removal and dispel them!

Epilation enhances hair growth

If at least one method of hair removal could stimulate its growth, the problem of bald people would be solved once and for all. Unfortunately, it only seems to us that, for example, there appears more hair after the razor: the depilation zone has increased, and the color (the hair has become dark and stiff).

Hair cannot be removed between hair removal sessions

In fact, you should attend laser hair removal as soon as you begin to feel bothered by the regrown hairs. This is at least 4-8 weeks. The hairs can also be shaved, but in no case should they be plucked or removed with an epilator, since an effective laser procedure requires “living” hair follicles.

Laser is dangerous for dark skin

Modern laser procedures can be performed on fresh tan and to people with very dark skin. Although you really need to wait for two weeks before and after tanning in case of traditional laser hair removal. In any case, it is important to use SPF 15+ for the face and body after the procedure and before going to the beach, to avoid pigments (not to mention the fact that it is important to protect the skin from open sunlight).

Hair removal in the bikini zone is the most painful

Indeed, during the procedure you can feel discomfort if there is pigmentation in the bikini area. The doctor will have a difficult choice: to reduce the parameters and effectiveness or to fear the patient’s torment during depilation and after that – the risk of mucosal burns. However, modern techniques (during which heating occurs gradually and is localized on the follicle itself without damaging the skin) are considered to be more gentle.

Hair will stop growing after 3-4 procedures

In different areas of the face and body, the hair has a different growth cycle. For example, the hair in the bikini zone and the armpits, as well as fluffy hairs on the face belong to hormone-dependent areas, where hair grows faster than on the legs.

For the most effective laser and elos-depilation, you need to wait for the active phase (when hair is visible) and do at least 12 procedures. Most likely, you will need additional procedures: 1-3 hair removals per year and after completion of the course (about 5% of hair may appear in a few years due to the change in hormonal levels).
