Foods That Cause Acne

Certain foods can be a source of acne. In urban living conditions, with irregular daily routines, lack of sleep, and frequent stress, it can be very difficult to determine the exact cause of skin problems. Among the “suspects” are both poor ecology and an unbalanced diet. However, the one thing nutritionists know for sure is that if you are faced with frequent and profuse rashes, certain foods may be involved.

Refined grains and sugar

Numerous studies show that people with a diet high in refined carbohydrates are more likely to experience regular rash, redness, and even acne.

Refined carbohydrates quickly raise blood sugar levels and trigger the release of insulin. The latter, in turn, activates androgens – the hormones that provoke skin cells to secrete more oil. As a result, the risk of pore-clogging increases and rashes become a real problem. Here is a list of foods that should be consumed in moderation:

• Bread, crackers, porridge, white flour desserts
• White flour pasta
• White rice and rice noodles
• Carbonated drinks, sugar-sweetened drinks
• Sweeteners (cane sugar, maple syrup, honey, or agave)
• Dairy products

Experts emphasize that fans of dairy products are prone to skin problems four times more often than those who prefer vegetables or meat. The question of the reason for such a negative impact remains open to debate, but scientists have several guesses.

Dairy products increase insulin levels, which can negatively affect skin health. Cow milk also contains amino acids, which cause the liver to produce more protein, playing a primary role in the development of inflammation.

Fast food

Fast food products – hamburgers, French fries and other (not the healthiest) attributes of modern urban food – are especially rich in calories, fats, and refined carbohydrates, the dangers of which we talked about earlier.

Such nutrition knocks down the work of the hormonal system, which inevitably affects the beauty of the skin because it mirrors all the failures and inaccuracies in the work of the body.

Whey protein

Whey protein is a common food supplement. It is a rich source of leucine and glutamine, amino acids that cause cells to divide faster, which can also increase the risk of acne.

Many athletes consuming whey protein as a dietary supplement to increase muscle mass experience skin problems, and studies indicate a direct relationship between rashes and the number of days of whey protein intake.

Chocolate

Since the 1920s, chocolate has been considered the main opponent of beautiful clear skin, but this statement has not acquired enough scientific arguments to be considered 100% true.

However, some experiments have shown that the consumption of chocolate increases the body’s response to bacteria that cause inflammation in the skin.
